What a website costsA client in Rochdale. Roch Sweets, a family sweet shop in the town trading since 2014, is a Cybrial client — the case study is on this site with the measured figures and a link to the live shop.
The Rochdale work here is Roch Sweets, and it is a useful illustration because the difficulty was not the design. Sweets are bought by the handful, not the SKU, and a standard shop — one product, one price, one add-to-basket — does not model "a bit of this, a bit of that, filled to the gram". So the pick-and-mix builder was written as a first-class feature and a thousand-line catalogue was structured into the categories people actually shop by.
It still loads in 1.27 seconds complete, with first content at 0.86 seconds and zero layout shift, on a photography-led page carrying 71 requests — measured on the live site on 4 September 2026.
Rochdale is about fifteen miles from where I work, so if it is easier to sit down and go through it than to trade emails, that is a short drive rather than a video call.
And before any website work at all: the Google Business Profile. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local business it decides the map pack that sits above every result a website can win. That is an awkward thing to put on a web designer’s page and it is still the right first move.
The same three numbers as everybody else, published rather than quoted on request: from £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, and growth blocks from £250 a month if and when the site should start earning more. No setup fee, no management fee, no percentage of ad spend, and no minimum term on anything.

From £500 for the build and from £50 a month for hosting and care. A shop or anything with a custom buying journey is a bigger job and is quoted after a conversation.
Eventually, and it is not where I would start. A handful of long-established local firms have held that term for years, and it is a small prize for a long project. The search terms around it are wide open by comparison — and your Google Business Profile will out-earn both of them.
Yes. Rochdale is a short drive from where I work, and for a first conversation about a build that is often quicker than three emails.
