WordPress websites

By Measured 4 September 2026

Bespoke WordPress builds for businesses that need to update the site themselves — designed properly, built lean, and fast on a phone.

Pricing

from £500

for the build, then from £50 a month hosting & care.

Deliberately competitive. We do not make our money on the build — we make it growing the business the site belongs to.

How pricing works

What you get

What the build includes.

  1. Bespoke theme, not a page-builder — so the site loads from a dozen requests, not a hundred

  2. Designed around the people who buy from you, with the enquiry route obvious on every screen

  3. Editable by you: pages, offers, images and posts without booking developer time

  4. Titles, metadata and structure written for real local search intent

  5. WooCommerce where you need to sell — including the parts a stock plugin will not model

  6. Hosting & care from £50 a month keeps it current after launch

What it did for Pro Pave.

A local paving company competing for high-value domestic work across Greater Manchester. Built to load almost instantly on a phone at the kerbside, and written to rank for the searches that actually bring quote requests.

Locally

Working in Greater Manchester.

Most of the WordPress work here is for businesses across Greater Manchester who sell to people within about twenty miles of themselves — trades, installers, practices, small retailers. That shapes the build more than the platform does: the site has to be legible on a phone, at the kerbside, on a poor signal, with the phone number always in reach.

Pro Pave is the clearest example. A paving company competing for high-value domestic work across Greater Manchester, they needed 27 pages so that each service and each area they cover had somewhere of its own to rank rather than everything competing with the homepage. The bespoke theme renders in eleven requests and loads completely in 0.68 seconds — which, on a driveway in the rain, is the difference between a quote request and a back button.

The other thing that comes up locally: Manchester businesses are quoted a very wide range for the same job, from a few hundred pounds to five figures. There is a guide here on what a website actually costs, with my prices in it, precisely so you can work out which end of that range your project genuinely belongs at.

Also under websites

Other kinds of build.

All of these sit under web design in Manchester, where the pricing and the process are the same whichever you pick.

  • WooCommerce

WordPress shops where the way you sell does not fit a stock platform — a thousand lines sold by the gram, a 17,000-product catalogue, a buying journey nobody has built before.

  • Shopify & e-commerce

Shopify and WooCommerce stores built around the parts that actually move revenue: product data, search, speed, and a checkout that gets out of the way.

  • Custom builds

When an off-the-shelf platform will not model your business, we build it properly — Next.js front ends, custom APIs and Supabase back ends, designed to be maintained.

  • Brand identity

Identity work that holds together everywhere it appears — logo, type, colour and the rules that stop it drifting — built alongside the website, not separately from it.

  • Website redesign

Rebuilding a site that already has customers is a different job from building one that has none. The traffic it already earns is an asset, and most redesigns lose some of it.

  • Magento and Adobe Commerce

The platform large catalogues end up on, and the one most likely to be running three versions behind because nobody wanted to touch it.

  • Headless and composable builds

Splitting the shop front from the shop. Genuinely better for some businesses and an expensive mistake for most, and the difference is knowable before you start.

Straight answers

Questions people actually ask.

Why WordPress rather than Wix or Squarespace?

Because you own it. A bespoke WordPress build lives on hosting you control, can be moved, extended and integrated, and does not sit on a platform that can change its pricing or its rules underneath you.

Will it be fast?

Yes — that is most of the point of building bespoke. Pro Pave, a WordPress build on this page, loads fully in 0.68 seconds with zero layout shift, measured on the live site on 4 September 2026.

Can I edit it myself?

That is the job. You get a clean editing experience for pages, offers and posts, and a short walkthrough when we hand over. Anything bigger is what the hosting or growth hours are for.

Do you build WooCommerce shops?

Yes, and it is often the right call when the way you sell is unusual. Roch Sweets sells over a thousand lines by the gram through a pick-and-mix builder that had to be written, because no stock plugin models "a bit of this, a bit of that, filled to the weight".

What does a WordPress site cost?

From £500 for the build, then £50 a month for hosting and care. Bigger jobs — a shop, a lot of pages, anything bespoke — are quoted after a conversation, and I will say plainly when a project is not a £500 project.

Tell me what the site needs to do.

Send me what you sell, who buys it and anything you dislike about the current site. You get a straight reply on what I would build and a price — websites start from £500.
