Web Design Torquay

By Measured 4 October 2026

Torbay — Torquay, Paignton and Brixham — is a visitor economy first, with a working fishing port, a notable photonics and electronics cluster, and a large retirement population driving health and care demand. The seasonal swing is pronounced and it changes the order of work.

Pricing

from £500

for the build, then from £50 a month hosting & care.

The same three numbers wherever you are. No setup fee, no minimum term.

What a website costs

Cybrial is a one-person studio in Manchester. There is no Torquay office. The town’s measured figures from 4 October 2026 are below.

The work, and who it is for in Torquay

Torbay — Torquay, Paignton and Brixham together — is a visitor economy first: hospitality, accommodation, attractions, a working fishing port at Brixham, and a very pronounced seasonal swing. There is also a notable photonics and electronics cluster, a large retirement population driving health and care demand, and the retail and services that come with both.

For the hospitality majority the order of work is unusual and worth stating plainly: the Google Business Profile first, the photographs second, the review count third, and the website fourth. A visitor choosing where to eat tonight is choosing from a map on a phone and will not reach your homepage. Where the website does earn is accommodation — winning the direct booking back off a platform taking fifteen per cent of it — and anything with a date, a party size and add-ons attached.

The nearest comparable work is Roch Sweets, a family confectioner with a thousand-line catalogue and a pick-and-mix builder that sells by the gram, because the underlying problem is the same: the standard one-product-one-price shop does not model how the thing is actually bought. It loads completely in 1.27 seconds with zero layout shift on a photography-led page carrying 71 requests.

Worth saying plainly rather than hoping you do not ask: I am in Manchester, not Torquay. There is no local office and this page does not pretend there is one. Two builds in Northern Ireland and one in the Republic of Ireland have run entirely remotely without difficulty, and what you should insist on from any remote supplier is the same list I would insist on — the domain registered in your name, the hosting in your own account, a full working copy of the site if you ever leave, and no exit fee. All four are standard here and they are written down on the pricing page.

And before any website work at all: the Google Business Profile. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local business it decides the map pack that sits above every result a website can win. That is an awkward thing to put on a web designer’s page and it is still the right first move.

What you get, and what it costs

The same three numbers as everybody else, published rather than quoted on request: from £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, and growth blocks from £250 a month if and when the site should start earning more. No setup fee, no management fee, no percentage of ad spend, and no minimum term on anything.

  • A bespoke build rather than a page-builder assembly, so the site is fast on a phone rather than fast on your laptop.
  • A page for each service and each area you actually sell in, so every search has somewhere of its own to land instead of competing with the homepage.
  • Editable by you, with a walkthrough at handover.
  • The domain in your name and the hosting in your account, with a full working copy if you ever leave.
  • Titles, structure and metadata written around the searches your customers actually run — not around a keyword dump.

Roch Sweets.

A family sweet shop in Rochdale, trading since 2014, selling over a thousand lines by the kilo. We built the store around the way people actually buy sweets — build your own mix, filled to the gram, dispatched the same day.

Straight answers

Questions about working in Torquay.

We are a restaurant. Is a website worth it?

Less than the Google Business Profile, honestly. A visitor choosing where to eat tonight is choosing from a map on a phone. Finish the profile, get the photographs right and ask for reviews first — then build the site for the bookings and the quieter months.

Are you in Devon?

No — one person in Manchester, and the page says so rather than implying otherwise. Remote builds have run as far as Cookstown and Dublin.

What does it cost?

From £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, growth blocks from £250 a month. A booking system is a bigger job and is quoted after a conversation.

Why is Torquay so much easier than Exeter?

Devon’s agencies are concentrated in Exeter and compete with each other there. The Exeter design terms come back at 49 and 65; the Torquay equivalents at 2 and 9. Twenty miles apart, same county, completely different amount of work.
