What a website costsCybrial is a one-person studio in Manchester. There is no Edinburgh office and no Scottish presence. The city’s measured search data from 4 October 2026 is below.
Edinburgh’s economy is financial services at a scale second only to London in the UK, government and the public sector, four universities and a very large student population, tourism and festivals, and a technology cluster that has grown substantially. A notable share of the local business base sells nationally or internationally, which means for many Edinburgh firms the city-name search is a supplier search rather than a customer one — worth winning, not the main event.
I should say plainly that I am in Manchester and there is no Scottish office. The nearest comparable work is CFC Wedding Lists, a family furniture retailer in Cookstown trading since 1972 — a remote build where the gift-list platform had to be written rather than configured, because two audiences who never meet were using the same data for opposite reasons. First content in 0.78 seconds with zero layout shift on an image-heavy page. What protects you with any remote supplier is contractual: the domain in your name, the hosting in your account, a working copy if you leave, no exit fee.
And before any website work at all: the Google Business Profile. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local business it decides the map pack that sits above every result a website can win. That is an awkward thing to put on a web designer’s page and it is still the right first move.
The same three numbers as everybody else, published rather than quoted on request: from £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, and growth blocks from £250 a month if and when the site should start earning more. No setup fee, no management fee, no percentage of ad spend, and no minimum term on anything.

Then the city page is worth having rather than worth building a strategy on. For a nationally selling Edinburgh firm, the sector and service pages on this site will do more than a city page.
Not in practice, and the page says it rather than implying otherwise. Two builds in Northern Ireland and one in the Republic have run entirely remotely. The protections that matter are contractual — domain in your name, hosting in your account, working copy if you leave, no exit fee.
From £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, growth blocks from £250 a month, in sterling. No setup fee, no minimum term.
Tell me what you sell, who buys it, and what the current site is not doing. You get a straight reply from Simon — what I would build, what it costs, and what I would do first.
