Every client on this site is a small business, so this page is less about a sector than about a size — and about the things that get sold to businesses this size that they do not need.
Pricing
from £500
for the build, then from £50 a month hosting & care.
The same three numbers in every sector. No setup fee, no minimum term.
What a website costsCybrial is a one-person studio in Manchester working with a small number of businesses at a time. Every case study on this site is a small business, which is why this page is written from the whole client list rather than from one of them.
The three things sold to businesses this size that are usually wrong: a five-figure build fee for a site that needs to cost hundreds; a monthly management fee attached to a report that absorbs most of the hours it reports on; and an ongoing contract with a minimum term that exists to protect the supplier.
The three things that are usually missing: a page for each thing you actually sell rather than one homepage doing everything, a complete Google Business Profile, and anybody counting the phone calls.
And one honest caution. If all your work comes by referral, you have no intention of growing, and customers only want to check you are real, a complete Google Business Profile does most of that job for nothing. You need a website when you want work you are not already getting.
Every case study on this site is a small business: a paving company, a leasing broker, a sweet shop, a family furniture retailer and a bedroom-furniture store. None of them is an enterprise and none of them was quoted an enterprise price.
Pro Pave is the clearest illustration of what a small business actually gets: 27 pages so each service and area has somewhere of its own to rank, on a bespoke build that renders from eleven requests and loads in 0.68 seconds. The prices are from £500 for the build and £50 a month for hosting and care, published rather than quoted on request.
The same three numbers as every other page on this site: from £500 for the build, from £50 a month for hosting and care, and growth blocks from £250 a month when you want the site to earn more. No setup fee, no management fee, no percentage of ad spend, no minimum term.

Straight answers
From £500 to about £2,000 for a bespoke site from a small studio, plus £50 a month to keep it current. Below £500 you are usually buying a template with your text in it; above £5,000 you are usually buying either genuine complexity or an agency's overheads.
Not always. If all your work comes by referral and customers only want to check you are real, a complete Google Business Profile does most of that job for nothing. You need a website when you want work you are not already getting — when people search for what you do rather than for you.
Genuinely yes, if the site is a business card and you will maintain it yourself. It stops being enough when the website has to bring in work, because the structure and speed a search strategy needs are fiddly on a builder and free on a bespoke build.
No minimum term on anything. Hosting is monthly, growth blocks are monthly, and you can stop either whenever you see fit. You own the domain, the hosting account and a full working copy of the site.
Claim and complete your Google Business Profile and ask ten customers for a review. It is free, it takes an afternoon, and for a local business it will out-earn the first several months of anything on this site.
